Meet the Instructors

Adare
Art Instructor
Adare has been teaching for a few decades now. They started running the art programs for developmentally disabled persons in Marin Day Activity Center (MDAC). Later they worked for Bay Area Video Coalition (BAVC) and became one of their top teachers with focus on Illustrator and Photoshop for the artist. Adare then opened their studio to teach drawing and painting as they had learned from the Atelier (European-style art school) and this is where we find them today.

Kaylie Pickup
Art Instructor
Kaylie has been an aloha 'āina educator in Hawai`i island schools for three years. Kaylie has been Adare’s apprentice for close to a year now, learning art in the classical tradition while also developing graphic and web design skills. She has also been engaged with learning collaborative art such as screen printing, natural plant dyeing, and zine-making. Kaylie has great patience, a solid understanding of form and color, and is a joy to work with. Children tend to gravitate toward her.

Focus

"Rose Adare is very generous with her energy and information. Rose doesn't teach the 'Rose Adare method' or style of art making. She helps each individual to find their own expression, style and connection with their own muse. Rose is an amazing artist and intuitively knows how to teach each student what they need to learn wherever they may be in their personal artistic journey."
